  The International Rafting Federation chose this river to be the headquarter for the Rafting World Championship in October 2005.

  Toachi and Blanco Rivers
  These rivers are located on the western slopes of the Ecuadorian Andes and provide spectacular views of subtropical forests as well as palm trees and local flora while rafting Ecuador.

  For a really unique rafting Ecuador experience you can visit the Piedra Blanco Community Ecotourism project and have a raft built from harvested balsa wood in the replica design of ancient Ecuadorean rafts. This is not whitewater rafting but adventure rafting Ecuador while drifting through the warm tropical scenery of the lower parts of Cotopaxi and Los Rios on a traditional wooden raft. This traditional raft has not changed much in a thousand years and was used until about 40 years ago to transport bananas and cocoa to the coast and beyond.
